When performed correctly, chin implants can provide your entire face with balance and pleasing proportions. They can enhance the overall appearance of your chin and jawline, while improving the contour of your neck. It’s a powerful procedure that has the ability to completely transform your face.
What to expect during your procedure
To begin the procedure, Dr. Rahban will make a small external incision (1.5cm to 2cm) just beneath the chin. Although there is a technique that involves a hidden incision within the mouth, he strongly prefers the external approach because there are fewer risks to the patient.
Dr. Rahban will then insert a variety of sizers to make sure that the shape and size of your final implant are just right. If necessary, he will even carve the implant so that it’s an ideal fit for your unique anatomy. From there, he will create a pocket to hold the implant in place. This is a critical part of your procedure, because a pocket that is too big or too small can create the appearance of a crooked chin implant.
Once the pocket is formed and the proper shape and size of the implant confirmed, Dr. Rahban will carefully insert the chin implant and close your incision in layers to ensure virtually imperceptible scarring. He will then apply dressings and tape to the area to promote healing.
